Biscuits and gravy. I can make it. I have made it. It’s edible. But somebody else makes it and suddenly it tastes like breakfast instead of a project I’ve been supervising for 45 minutes.

Well, apparently even breakfast needs a safety briefing now. The FDA just upgraded a recall involving nearly 1.6 million cartons of eggs to its most serious Class I level because of possible Salmonella contamination. Kroger and several other brands are included. Probably worth checking the carton before cracking a few into the pan.

There’s a little diner near me that still gives you an actual mug of coffee, keeps topping it off, and doesn’t act like breakfast needs to be a luxury experience. Those places are getting harder to find.

Stopped at one of those old neighborhood breakfast places this morning. Eggs, potatoes, toast and coffee. Nobody put avocado foam on anything. Perfect.
