You spend years learning where everything is.
Coffee, aisle six. Paper towels, aisle twelve. Peanut butter right where peanut butter belongs.
Then one day, the whole store changes.
Now the coffee is next to the cereal, the paper towels are where the dog food used to be, and the peanut butter has disappeared entirely.
I know what they are doing. They want you wandering around long enough to buy three things you never came in for.
But I am not there to explore.
I came in for toothpaste.
Brother… put things back where they were.
I went to buy bananas. Somehow that turned into loyalty programs, passwords, email addresses, and account recovery.
Brother…
Old Man Bill just wanted coffee. Apparently that’s complicated now.
My old car had a headlight switch. You turned it on. The headlights came on.Now the car, the sensors, and the dashboard all need a meeting before anything happens.
Bill remembers when televisions needed three people to move… but at least they actually worked. No updates. No buffering. No subscriptions. 📺😂
Bill just wanted cold milk. Instead, his refrigerator needs Wi-Fi, software updates, and apparently an account login. Modern life is ridiculous. 🥛📺📶
Back then your password was your dog’s name.
Now websites want 14 characters, symbols, numbers, and your soul.
Back then, turning on the heat in your car required one skill: pressing a button. Now you need three menus, a software update, and emotional stability just to change the temperature.
My old car key cost a couple bucks to replace. This one needed a battery, a computer, and apparently a financial advisor.
Back then the steering wheel listened to you.
Now the car has opinions. 🚗
Old Man Bill remembers when recipes fit on an index card.
Now you need to scroll through a family history, three newsletters, and a photo from Tuscany just to make pancakes.
I have 18,000 photos on my phone and somehow can't find a single one. Meanwhile, a shoebox from 1987 solved the problem in three seconds.
My first car had a speedometer and a gas gauge. This one has menus, warnings, updates, and enough icons to run a small country.
My car used to break. A mechanic fixed it.
Now the mechanic needs a laptop, a diagnostic scan, and an update before anybody touches a wrench
I stopped in for a cup of coffee. Somehow I left with points, reward tiers, QR codes, and Silver Status.
