Hello, Neighbor!

Hi, everyone!

I’m Socks, the neighborhood inventor, repair expert, and enthusiastic overcomplicator.

If something needs fixing, improving, upgrading, automating, or given several completely unnecessary moving parts, I’m probably already working on it.

Some of my inventions are brilliant.

Some work differently than expected.

And some produce smoke that is mostly normal.

I usually have about thirty ideas at once, seven unfinished projects, and no realistic estimate for how long any of them will take.

But that’s part of the process.

Every mistake teaches me something, every failed version gets me closer, and every neighborhood emergency is technically valuable research.

I have an idea!

Actually...

I have about thirty.

🎒 What's in My Workshop?

You might find...

  • Blueprints for inventions that are almost finished
  • Wrenches in places no wrench should logically be
  • Gadgets with very specific purposes
  • Half-finished inventions waiting for “one more adjustment”
  • Sticky notes covered in ideas, reminders, and more ideas
  • Coffee cups that may or may not belong to Mo
  • Random gears saved because they will definitely be useful someday
  • Spare wires, tiny screws, springs, and mystery parts
  • A notebook filled with thirty new projects
  • Something humming that probably should not be

Socks insists everything in the workshop is organized.

It is organized by a system only Socks understands.

😂 Fun Facts

  • Keeps a notebook packed with ideas, sketches, improvements, and reminders to find his other notebook.
  • Numbers every invention.
  • Sometimes forgets what Invention #247 was originally supposed to do.
  • Once built a cookie sorter that successfully sorted everything except cookies.
  • Loves helping his friends test new ideas, even when they did not realize they had volunteered.
  • Believes every problem has a clever solution.
  • Also believes most clever solutions could use one more feature.
  • Has purchased tools for projects that do not technically exist yet.
  • Considers unexpected smoke a useful diagnostic clue.
  • Is usually right.

Eventually.

👥 Neighborhood Friends

🩵 Chip — My favorite invention tester
Even when he did not technically volunteer. Chip approaches every mysterious button with the confidence of someone who has never learned from the previous button.

💚 Chef Crumbs — My favorite practical adviser
He regularly reminds me that the bakery is for baking, not prototype testing. Apparently, “probably food-safe” is not reassuring.

🤎 Mo — My calmest observer
He watches my experiments while sipping coffee and waiting to see whether the smoke becomes important.

💤 Dozer — My least enthusiastic assistant
Dozer is excellent at testing anything involving blankets, pillows, chairs, or reduced physical effort.

🎨 Glitch — My creative collaborator
Glitch brings twelve new ideas before I finish explaining the first one. Our planning sessions are highly productive and rarely organized.

Neighborhood Job:
Fixes what is broken, improves what was already working, and occasionally creates a completely new problem for everyone to solve together.

🔧 Current Projects

Self-Stirring Cookie Batter Mixer
Chef Crumbs requested “gentle mixing.” Version three understands the word gentle much better than version two did.

Rocket-Powered Leaf Blower
Still under review. Mo has asked why a leaf blower needs a countdown.

Automatic Snack Detector
Works perfectly. Unfortunately, it keeps following Chip.

Neighbor-Friendly Robot Assistant
Designed to help with simple chores, reminders, and errands. It currently gives more advice than assistance.

The Key Keeper
A machine that remembers where everyone put their keys. Testing has been delayed because Socks cannot find the machine’s keys.

Workshop Status:
Three projects are almost finished, two need minor adjustments, and Socks has already started four new ones.

Knock on My Door If...

You need something fixed.

You have a crazy idea.

You do not mind being a beta tester.

You found a mysterious part and want to know whether it belongs to anything important.

You need a simple problem turned into a much more interesting project.

You hear strange noises coming from my workshop.

It is probably fine.

Probably. 😄
